Adansiman Progressive Association Calls for Water Quality Testing in Obuasi

The Adansiman Progressive Association has called on the Obuasi Municipal Assembly and Obuasi East district assembly to test the quality of water used by sachet water producers in Obuasi. The call was made by Kwesi Aboagye, who expressed concern over the contamination of the town’s water by mining operations.

During an interview on Aseda FM Morning Show, Aboagye emphasized the need for safe and clean water for the people of Obuasi. He called for the testing of all boreholes constructed for communities in the town, in addition to the water used by sachet water producers.

“There are some boreholes in Obuasi that the residents cannot even drink from” he said.

Adding to the conversation, Obarima Kwadwo Gyamfi revealed the shocking results of a recent test on the quality of water used by sachet water producers. Many of the producers were found to be using water with a pH level of less than 5, indicating high acidity.

This news is alarming, as acidic water can have negative effects on human health, especially if consumed over a prolonged period of time. Kwadwo Gyamfi also called on the relevant authorities to take immediate action to ensure that the water consumed by the people of Obuasi is safe and free from any form of contamination.

The Adansiman Progressive Association’s call for water quality testing in Obuasi serves as a reminder of the importance of environmental responsibility and the need for sustainable practices in the mining industry.
