Bacnof Schools in Obuasi has sworn in their newly elected prefects. The prefects were sworn in by the Resident Bishop at the Victory Bible Church International, Bishop Elvis Kessey. Seven prefects in total were sworn in.
Speaking to Obuasitoday.com at the event, the CEO of Bacnof Schools, Nana Afia Agyeiwaah Boachie Tsikata said they decided to have the event to make the prefects know that their authority has been established.
“We decided to do this because, first of all, it establishes the authority of the prefects. It gets those who voted for them to see the people they voted for. It also gives them a certain prestige and responsibility (because) they realise that everybody is now looking up to them. And so they have to do their work well” she said.
Andy Nti Frimpong, the newly sworn in Head boy in his acceptance speech, thanked his colleagues and management of the school for the faith they have in him by electing him to the top position. He promised the school to do everything in his power to “get things done right”.
“I may not be perfect and might not always get things right, but I promise that I will do everything in my power to get things (done) right. I will stand firm with my cabinet with our own remarkable talents and use them to ensure the proper functioning of the school by performing our duties excellently”, he said.
He ended by calling on his colleague prefects to work with him as a team to achieve their goals.
“A team is like a toolset, not one tool can do all the jobs, but together it can and yet, something incredible happens when teamwork happens the way it’s supposed to. Things change when everyone on the team is equally invested in the overall purpose and goal. You find yourself working faster, finding mistakes more easily and innovating better. So let’s join our hands together to work with team spirit” he said.
The newly sworn-in Head girl, Charisma Tsikata, in her speech admitted that a great responsibility has been bestowed upon her by the school but also promised to work with the rest of the prefects to achieve the best for the school.
“We will travel this road together and work in unison to keep BACNOF schools flag flying high up in the sky, mounted with love, hoisted with dignity and fluttering with grace,” she said.
Seven prefects including the head boy, head girl, the cafeteria head, sports prefect, entertainment prefect, chapel prefect and the compound prefect were sworn in.
Bacnof Schools in Obuasi has almost 300 students and twenty-two non-teaching and teaching staff.
“Our education is all-inclusive, emotional, social, psychological, …we make sure that the children are confident in themselves. We encourage them to also build on what talents they have. Another thing we do is that we have exquisite extracurricular activities that make the children feel at home” the CEO revealed when asked about what makes her school different from others.
