Dr. Kwaku Frimpong

Dr. Kwaku Frimpong, former President of AshantiGold Sporting Club Limited, has officially accepted the ban imposed on him by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and announced his complete withdrawal from football-related activities in Ghana or elsewhere.

In a letter dated 23rd July 2025 and addressed to the General Secretary of the GFA, Dr. Frimpong acknowledged the disciplinary action and affirmed that he will no longer engage in any form of involvement, interest, or influence in football, either directly or indirectly. He further disclosed that he has relinquished his role as president of Ashantigold SC and transferred all ownership and rights of the club to Edward Osei Mensah and Kofi Appianin Ennin.

In a separate letter from Ashantigold SC, Kofi Appianin Ennin, now serving as President, confirmed Dr. Frimpong’s disassociation from the club. The statement emphasized that Dr. Frimpong has no decision-making authority, administrative, financial, technical, or advisory role with the club or its new leadership.

The club’s leadership declared the move as a step towards aligning with GFA requirements for the reinstatement of Ashantigold SC into Ghana football. They respectfully urged the GFA to update its records and begin the process of reintegrating the club under its new structure.

These declarations are seen as significant efforts to cleanse the club’s image and revive its participation in Ghana’s top-flight football.
