Faustilove Leads as AGAMal Partners OMA to Clean Kunka

The Municipal Chief Executive of the Obuasi Municipal Assembly (OMA), Madam Faustilove Appiah Kannin, on Saturday led residents of the Kunka Electoral Area in a massive clean-up exercise to mark the National Sanitation Day.

The exercise, organised by OMA and supported by the AngloGold Ashanti Malaria Control Programme (AGAMal), saw staff of both institutions join community members to desilt choked gutters and clear refuse from the environment. Logistics were provided to ensure smooth participation, while all shops at Kunka Junction remained closed for the six-hour exercise.

Environmental Health Officers were also on hand to provide technical guidance. Addressing the media, Madam Faustilove urged residents to take sanitation seriously, stressing that “a clean environment contributes greatly to our well-being.” She further called for regular daily cleaning rather than waiting for the monthly exercise.

Notable participants included AGAMal’s Safety Manager, Mr. Khalifa Mohammed; the Presiding Member of OMA, Honourable Adabour; and the Chief and elders of Kunka, who all joined hands with residents to make the programme a success.
