Galaxy foundation, a non-governmental organization headquartered in Obuasi has undertaken a free health screening and party for the Abosamso Orphanage. The Orphanage which also serves as a school is located at Bodwesango in the Ashanti region.
Speaking to the Executive Director of Galaxy Foundation, Mr. Hagan David, he said it is the core aim of Galaxy Foundation to provide medical assistance to those who can’t afford it.
“So far we have organized about four free medical screening for various orphanages and communities in Ghana. Our first health screening was organized for the Patmos and Adullam Orphanages in the Obuasi Municipality. The second was a free health screening on Malaria, Hepatitis B, Prostate Cancer and eye test for the Diawuosu and Ayaase communities and the third was a free plastic surgery for over 150 deformed people who couldn’t afford the cost”, he added.
The conditions of the beneficiaries included cleft lip and palate, giant scrotum, fused fingers and toes, tumors and swellings.
The Abosamso orphanage was founded by Mrs. Martha Nyame eight years ago and it served as an orphanage till it was also opened for other children within the community to attend school there to enable them pay the workers in the orphanage.
Galaxy foundation is a philanthropic group consisting of young dedicated professionals who have also decided to spend part of their time and talent to help the needy in the society. It is headquartered in Obuasi and has a strong backing from the Roman Catholic Church in the Golden city.
