Let Us Unite and Build the Obuasi East We Want – MCE

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Obuasi East Municipality, Hon. William Kofi Adzowu, has called on residents to embrace unity and collective responsibility to drive the municipality’s development.

Speaking during the 69th Independence Day celebration, his first since assuming office, Hon. Adzowu emphasized that building the “Obuasi East We Want” requires strong collaboration, job creation, and the aggressive pursuit of developmental projects.

Infrastructure and Development

The MCE announced that the municipality has secured its share of national development initiatives. A major project is the planned 24-Hour Economy Market to be constructed at Boete, which is expected to boost local trade and create employment opportunities.

He also highlighted several ongoing infrastructure projects in key sectors:

Education: Construction of new classroom blocks at Lowcost, Asonkore, and Nyamesomyede, as well as continued infrastructure development at Christ the King Catholic Senior High School, including a science laboratory, additional classroom blocks, boys’ and girls’ dormitories, and fencing of the school.Health: Ongoing health projects aimed at improving access to medical services for residents of Ayease and Domeabra.

Boosting Local Agriculture

To enhance food security and support livelihoods, Hon. Adzowu highlighted the Assembly’s implementation of the Nkoko Nkitikiti Programme, through which 10,000 birds have been distributed to 167 beneficiaries, including 3,300 layers and 6,700 broilers.

Gratitude for Community Support

The MCE commended the spirit of volunteerism and partnership within the municipality. He expressed appreciation to the Freeman Methodist Church (Tutuka), the SDA Church, and two private individuals for donating land to support development projects.

He also acknowledged the contributions of key leaders, including:

• Hon.Dr.Patrick Boakye Yiadom, Member of Parliament for Obuasi East, for his continued support.

• Hon.Faustina Amissah, former Municipal Chief Executive, for her dedicated service.

The celebration concluded with renewed optimism as the MCE reiterated that the journey toward a prosperous Obuasi East requires unity, partnership, and shared responsibility
