Mankind Foundation Ghana Partners with Dubai’s Zulekha Hospital to Provide Free Cervical Cancer Screening in Ashanti Region

Mankind Foundation Ghana has announced a major partnership with Zulekha Hospital in Dubai to offer free cervical cancer screenings and medical consultations to residents of the Ashanti Region. The initiative will bring a team of international medical experts to Kumasi and Obuasi this December to deliver vital preventive healthcare services.

The collaboration aligns with the Foundation’s mission to support the wellbeing of women and children across Ghana. Speaking on the partnership, Mr. Godson Opoku Acheampong, Managing Director of Mankind Foundation Ghana, emphasized the organization’s long-term commitment to expanding access to life-saving healthcare. “This marks just the beginning, as we strive to provide preventive healthcare access to women throughout Ghana,” he said.

Dr. Hebezina Opoku Acheampong, Clinical Lead for the Foundation, underscored the critical importance of early detection. “We are fully committed to reducing the incidence of cervical cancer in our region. Early detection through screening serves as our most effective tool,” she noted.

Zulekha Healthcare Group, renowned for its medical expertise across the Middle East and Asia, is contributing specialist support to the initiative. Co-Chairperson Ms. Zanubia Shams expressed the institution’s excitement about extending care to Ghana, saying, “We are pleased to extend our care beyond borders. This screening is an impactful initial step towards offering hope, early detection, and life-saving care to communities in Ghana.”

The visiting medical team will include:

  • Dr. Laxmi Yaliwal – Specialist Obstetrician & Gynaecologist with expertise in minimally invasive surgery
  • Dr. Maha Ebrahim Esmail – Consultant Oncologist experienced in breast and gynaecological cancer management

Mankind Foundation Ghana extended its appreciation to the local authorities whose support is instrumental in the success of this initiative. The program is supported by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Obuasi East and West Municipal Assemblies, the Ghana Health Service—Ashanti Regional Health Directorate, and both the Obuasi East and West Municipal Health Directorates.

This partnership marks an important step toward improving access to preventive healthcare in Ghana’s communities, demonstrating what can be achieved through strong local and international collaboration.
