The Obuasi East Municipal Assembly is set to distribute 13 skip containers across the municipality as part of efforts to promote proper sanitation and curb indiscriminate waste disposal.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Williams Kofi Adzowu, disclosed this during the final observance of the 2025 Sanitation Day, held at Akaporiso in Obuasi East.
According to the MCE, one of the major challenges confronting sanitation efforts in the municipality is the lack of skip containers and dustbins in several communities and along major streets. This situation, he noted, has contributed to some residents disposing of refuse indiscriminately.
Hon. Adzowu explained that the placement of skip containers and street dustbins at vantage points would significantly improve waste management and encourage residents to adopt better sanitation practices.
He reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to ensuring a clean environment, stressing that Obuasi East Municipal Assembly is determined to provide good sanitation, including the provision of street dustbins to serve the people of the municipality.
The MCE further called on residents to take collective responsibility for maintaining cleanliness, emphasizing that effective sanitation requires both government support and community cooperation.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts by the Assembly to improve public health, environmental cleanliness, and overall living conditions in Obuasi East.
