Obuasi East MCE Gifts Kwabenakwa JHS Gh₵5,000.00 After Winning 2025 Aseda FM Science and Maths Quiz

Kwabenakwa M/A Junior High School in Obuasi East emerged champions in the 2025 ASEDA FM Science and Maths Quiz Grand Final, beating tough competition from Apitikooko JHS and SDA JHS.

Final Results:

  • Kwabenakwa JHS – 69 points
  • Apitikooko JHS – 62 points
  • SDA JHS – 43 points

The contest, held among schools in Obuasi East and Obuasi Municipal Assemblies, showcased the brilliance and hard work of the participants. Kwabenakwa JHS impressed the judges with their confidence, critical thinking, and teamwork, securing their spot as winners.

As a token of appreciation, the school proudly presented their trophy to the Obuasi East Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. William Kofi Adzowu. The MCE commended the students for their remarkable achievement, emphasizing the vital role of science and mathematics education in shaping Ghana’s future.

To further motivate the team, Hon. Adzowu gifted GH₵5,000.00 to the school:

  • GH₵1,000.00 each to the three contestants
  • GH₵2,000.00 to the school and the dedicated teachers who prepared the students

“Kwabenakwa M/A JHS’s win is a testament to the school’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and innovation. Their achievement will inspire other students to pursue greatness,” — Hon. Adzowu stated.

The contestants — Isaac Annan, Adarkwah Frankline, and Abigail Boateng — expressed joy at their victory and pledged to defend the trophy in the next edition.

The delegation to the MCE was led by SISOs Joseph Nunoo, Patience Botchway, and Ruth Owusuaah, together with Head Teacher Ahmed Isaaka, Coordinator Joyce Mensah Ayittey, and Teacher Mariwaana Ishak.

This victory not only brought recognition to Kwabenakwa JHS but also served as an inspiration for other schools to strive for excellence in STEM education.
