The people of Kokoteasua, a community in Obuasi, have expressed joy following the installation of a new chief after the passing of their previous leader. The newly enstooled Odikro, Nana Appiah Darkwa II, also known as Energy 1, was officially introduced to the community in a gathering marked with unity and hope for development.
In his address to residents during a community durbar, Nana Appiah Darkwa II expressed gratitude to the people for their warm welcome and pledged to champion the progress of Kokoteasua. He made a heartfelt appeal to AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) Obuasi Mine, urging the company to prioritize youth employment from the area to help curb the growing unemployment challenge.
The new chief also called on government and stakeholders to consider Kokoteasua in the distribution of key social amenities. He highlighted the need for improved school infrastructure, road networks, public toilets, and other essential services to enhance living conditions in the community. Additionally, he encouraged the youth to shun violence and embrace peace, stressing that development thrives in a stable and united environment.
Also speaking at the event was Nana Agyei Kyere II, Asante Bekwai Apagyahene of Krofoum Besiesi, who urged residents of Kokoteasua and surrounding communities to refrain from invoking curses (Duabo). He reminded them that His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has banned such practices, and anyone who flouts this directive would face severe consequences.
