OBUASI MINISTERS’ ASSOCIATION HOLDS PRESS CONFERENCE ON APPOINTMENT OF NEW OBUASI M.C.E

The Obuasi Ministers’ association (O.M.A)  held a Press conference yesterday following the upcoming appointment of the new municipal Chief executive for Obuasi. This is the maiden open-source media engagement organized by the association which consists of all the clergy figures residing in Obuasi.

Two key issues were layed out as the Purpose of the gathering by the chairman of the association–Apostle George Kingsley Amoako, also the head-Pastor of Covenant House Chapel Obuasi.

First they shared their thoughts regarding the nomination of a new municipal Chief executive (M.C.E) for Obuasi by the President and the qualities they seek for in that person. Secondly, they proposed ideas on how the association and the general Obuasi community can all contribute to make Obuasi great once again.

In his statement, he reacted to the stigmatization by the Public mass against the clergy on having the freedom to share out their constructive thoughts on socio-political caucuses, as well as participation in national affairs.

This note was smoothed out by the chairman on further explanations:

“….we have taken a bold step towards becoming active citizens of this country, and not the spectators that we have more often than not become. As spiritual leaders, we have endured a certain public perception that our roles are confined to the pulpit. This is far from the reality.
Indeed, the Bible even encourages all Christians to participate in national affairs. This call was not made in a vacuum.”

This exclamation from the Chairman followed:

“It is not strange for the clergy to express an opinion on matters of state. Even beyond the spiritual justification provided above, we also shepherd people who live in our communities. They have social and emotional needs that the church has to meet.

Whenever the economy takes a nose dive, or when the state fails in its responsibility to provide basic needs, the burden falls on churches to stand in the gap. In this regard, churches have been paying school fees of needy but brilliant students, settling medical bills, subsidizing housing rent for members, providing social welfare, providing emotional and material support for widows, physically challenged, children and people classified as extremely poor and who have fallen out of the social welfare net. A thriving, equitable and sustainable economy is therefore a huge relief to churches.”

Apostle Emmanuel Adade–Founder & General overseer of Glorious Zion Mission Int. Church, who also serves as the treasurer for the association reiterated the opinion that a major occurring incident which often provokes the outburst of these notions and misconceptions by the populace is the attitude of the media in addressing intelligible statements made by the clergy misconstrued.

Obuasi Ministers’ Association has over 100+ memberships and counting on open participation since its inauguration in May 2016.

It is headed by Seven executives all from several churches in Obuasi. They include the Chairman–Apostle George Kingsley Amoako (Head Pastor, Covenant House Chapel Obuasi), Vice Chair.–Rev. Sylvanus Adjei Brown (Head Pastor, I.C.G.C Obuasi), Secretary–Rev. Augustine Kofi Bempah (Assemblies of God, Obuasi-Anyinam)  Treasurer–Apostle Emmanuel Adade (Founder&General Overseer, Glorious Zion Mission Int. Church), Organizer–Rev. Ben Mensah (Action Chapel Int. Obuasi), Member–Rev. Samuel Kofi Hammond (Assemblies of God, Obuasi-Kwabrafoso) and Prophet Dr. Elvis Kessie (Head Pastor, Victory Bible Church Obuasi)

The association has been running nearly a year now and hopes to mentor churches and the clergy, especially the young and upcoming ones. It also desires to address necessary issues relevant to the development of the Obuasi municipality.
