The Children’s Ministry of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Ascension Congregation, Obuasi, celebrated this year’s Parents’ Day in grand style, filled with cultural display and vibrant old-school fashion.

The event, held under the theme “Celebrating Our Heritage, Persisting in Mission,” featured traditional attire, local dishes, indigenous music, and spirited performances by the children. It aimed to highlight the importance of cultural identity while honoring the invaluable role of parents in the upbringing of children.

Speaking at the event, Madam Emilia Asantewah Awuku, President of the Children’s Ministry and Clerk of Session for the congregation, emphasized that Presbyterian churches globally observe this special day to honor parents and reaffirm the mission of the church in shaping morally upright children.

She explained that beyond the fun and celebration, the occasion also provided an opportunity to teach children about Ghanaian culture, Presbyterian values, and the importance of strong moral foundations.

Madam Charity Agbesi, Secretary of the Children’s Ministry, also reiterated the church’s long-standing contribution to national development, especially in the areas of education, health, and social welfare. She noted that the Presbyterian Church has instilled discipline and ethics through its Children’s Ministry, leaving a lasting mark on every child who passes through it.

Several children shared their experiences and the joy of celebrating with their parents, expressing pride in their culture and the lessons learned through the church.

The colorful event not only celebrated parents but also reinforced the Presbyterian mission of nurturing children to become responsible and God-fearing citizens.
