The Obuasi Trade Show Expo 2025 will take place from 17 to 20 December at Black Park, offering four days of business, culture, and entertainment for residents and visitors.
Now in its seventh year, the event is organised by the Obuasi Trade Show Consortium in partnership with AngloGold Ashanti, which has invested $1.8 million in the initiative since it began. The expo provides a platform for local entrepreneurs to showcase products, enhance branding, and explore export opportunities.
For the first time, the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) has joined as a partner, providing training in product packaging and branding to prepare small businesses for larger markets. Since the trade show’s inception, over 1,000 entrepreneurs have benefited from training, with many improving production processes, registering products with the Food and Drugs Authority, and entering export markets.
In his address, Edmund Oduro Agyei, AngloGold Ashanti’s Community Relations Manager, underscored the company’s long-standing commitment to supporting local businesses. He noted that the trade show has become a vital platform for nurturing entrepreneurship in Obuasi, helping small enterprises to grow, improve product quality, and access broader markets.
Mr Oduro Agyei also encouraged traders to embrace innovation, maintain high standards, and actively seek opportunities beyond the local market, stressing that the company will continue to support initiatives that empower entrepreneurs and strengthen Obuasi’s economic base.
Mr Aboagye Ohene Adu, Chairman of the Obuasi Trade Show Consortium, called for increased media coverage and community participation. Highlighting success stories such as Obuasi Bitters, he stressed that visibility, affordable pricing, and improved product quality are essential to helping local entrepreneurs thrive.
