The Queen Mother of Akrokerri, Nana Serwaa Bruwaa II, has donated 50 classroom desks to Serwaa Bruwaah D/A Basic School at Dadwene in the Adansi North District, bringing relief to pupils who have long endured studying while seated on the bare floor.
For months, inadequate furniture had forced several students to sit on the ground during lessons due to a shortage of desks.
Presenting the desks on behalf of the Queen Mother, the Dadwene Odikro, Nana Sarfo Kantanka, assured the school community that more support would be forthcoming in the months ahead. He also appealed to individuals and organizations to complement the gesture and support the school’s development.

In an emotional address, the Headmistress, Salome Kanmouni, expressed profound gratitude to the Queen Mother but revealed that the school continues to face serious challenges.
“As it stands, my office is completely out of use,” she said. “I do not even have a table or a chair to sit on. The office meant to drive the administration of this school is empty, forcing us to work under extreme pressure in makeshift spaces. We are doing our best for the children, but the management is grounded.”

She appealed to NGOs, the general public, and well-meaning citizens to emulate the Queen Mother’s example and help address the school’s pressing needs.
According to the school authorities, urgent requirements include administrative desks and chairs for staff, additional classroom furniture to ensure no child sits on the floor, and basic office equipment to make the administration block fully functional for record-keeping and planning.

The school was constructed by Andrew Amoako Asiamah, Member of Parliament for Fomena Constituency, in honour of Nana Serwaa Bruwaa II. The project was funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund and was officially commissioned on October 13, 2025.
Despite the infrastructure, authorities say essential furniture and equipment remain a critical gap in ensuring effective teaching and learning at the school.
