AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine has donated assorted items to marginalized groups and individuals in Obuasi to mark this year’s Valentine’s Day celebration.

widows, inmates of the Obuasi Local Prisons, and two orphanages — Abdullam and Patmos — benefited from the gesture.

The items donated included bags of rice, maize, sugar, tinned tomatoes, chocolate Milo, eggs, milk powder, drinks, bathing soap, toilet rolls, and other essential supplies.

The donation forms part of the Mine’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and its 10-year Socio-economic Development Plan, which prioritizes support for marginalized groups within its host communities.

Speaking at the presentation, the Community Relations Manager, Mr. Edmund Oduro, highlighted the Mine’s dedication to supporting and empowering vulnerable groups in society. He emphasized that in a season marked by love, compassion, and generosity, the Mine remains intentional about extending care and meaningful support to those most in need.

The initiative follows a similar intervention in December last year, when the Mine donated assistive devices to Persons Living with Disabilities in Obuasi to enhance their mobility and inclusion.

According to Mr. Agyei, the gesture underscores the Mine’s unwavering commitment to its purpose of mining to empower people and advance societies, reflecting its broader vision of sustainable and inclusive community development.

Beneficiaries expressed heartfelt appreciation to the company for the timely gesture, describing it as a demonstration of genuine care and solidarity.

Through such initiatives, AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine continues to reaffirm its commitment to community development and strengthening relationships with its host communities.
