On April 13, 2024, the Bekwai Municipal Assembly stopped the 2024 independent candidate, Lawyer Amofa, from reroofing the Bekwai RC JHS building after destruction by a rainstorm.
A heavy rainstorm on Friday , March 29, 2024, ripped off portions of some schools’s buildings in Bekwai Municipality, namely the Bekwai SDASS dormitory block, Pepedan Primary, and Bekwai R/C model school building and Bodoma JHS leaving some teaching and learning materials destroyed. Lawyer Amofa then wrote to the Bekwai Municipal Education Directorate , the Assembly member for Nampansa and the Bekwai Roman Catholic Priest to give him permission to reroof the said Bekwa R/C School building, and they quickly approved of Lawyer Amofa’s request to reroof the school’s building after the incident took over three weeks without any response from the municipal assembly.
After all the consultations made by the 2024 independent candidate in Bekwai constituency, Lawyer Amofa, quickly bought materials to reroof the school building as it has been approved by authorities , but unfortunately for him, the Bekwai Municipal Assembly led by the MCE, Hon. Kwaku Kyei Baffour, ordered his men to stop the work for not seeking approval from the municipal assembly before taking such steps to reconstruct it.
Whiles the other remaining schools that were destroyed by rainstorms are left behind without any attention from the Bekwai municipal assembly, the MCE has ordered Lawyer Amofa to stop his self financial support to reroof the building.
