FC AshantiGold ’04 produced one of their most convincing performances of the season on Sunday, thrashing Sefwi All Stars 4-0 away at the Juaboso Mampong Park in the Access Bank Division One League Zone Two.
Forward Richmond Fosu was the standout performer, scoring a hat-trick to lead the Miners’ attack under new coach Abdul Karim Zito. The Miners dominated from the outset and never allowed their hosts a foothold. Fosu opened the scoring in the first half. adding another in the same half before scoring his third of the game in the second period,
The victory extends FC AshantiGold ’04’s lead at the top of Zone Two. After 21 matches, the Miners sit on 43 points with a goal difference of +17. Second-placed Mysterious Dwarfs are on 40 points (+15 GD), followed by Nsuopun Fidelity (38 pts, +12 GD), Sefwi All Stars (35 pts, -4 GD after the defeat), and Rospak FC (33 pts from 20 games, +9 GD).
This result comes despite earlier setbacks for the club, including a five-match home ban and fine from the GFA Disciplinary Committee in January. Playing away from Len Clay Stadium has not slowed their momentum.
The victory, under new technical director Abdul Karim Zito, keeps the Miners firmly at the top of the table as they push for promotion back to the Ghana Premier League. This result follows Zito’s recent appointment in late February, aimed at bringing discipline and experience to the squad during the crucial phase of the season.
