AngloGold Ashanti Ghana is considering a 10 years socio-economic development plan to bring development and diversify the local economy of communities in its catchment areas. This was revealed by the Senior Manager Sustainability, Emmanuel Baidoo during the close-Out Session On School Improvement Supervisors Training Workshop in Obuasi on Wednesday.
“Going into 2022 and beyond, we are looking at putting together a 10-year socio-economic development plan, and obviously education will feature strongly in that plan”, Emmanuel Baidoo revealed.
Anglogold Ashanti launched the Social Management plan to contribute to diversifying the local economy through the design and implementation of innovative interventions in collaboration with stakeholders. These interventions considered education, business development and farming among others. The 3 years Social Management Plan comes to an end this year and the Mine has started considering the next steps in diversifying the local economy.
