The Radio Path

Koo Gyamfi’s entry into the media space was not something he planned and was not also because he loved radio, and so what triggered his media interest?

Obarima has always been vocal and during his days at college, he led his colleague trainees in fighting for what was due them. That was when he met his godfather, the late Confidence K. Baah of KESSBEN FM, Kumasi.

It was the late K. Baah who after speaking with him on an issue he went to seek clarification on as a Teacher Trainee then, introduced media to him. He then began his media career by reporting for KESSBEN FM from Bawku where he had been posted to work as a Trained Teacher.

At Bawku, he did freelance for GEM FM and some local radio stations in the Bawku Municipal including SOURCE FM. That was when his interest in Media grew stronger. He also reported for KESSBEN FM, OTEC FM and GEM FM from Bawku during the 2016 General Elections.

Fast forward to 2017, he was introduced to the General Manager of TIME 96.9Mhz, Mr. Gyamfi by the then News Editor of OTEC FM, Abrewa Nana, and in June 2017, he became the Co-Host of O 107.7MHz Morning show together with Kwabena Yeboah (Abrewa) and worked for 2 years.

He again continued as the Morning Show Co-Host at TIME 96.9MHz in January 2020 and in June 2020, was approached by Jegien Enterprise Limited’s ASEDA FM with a two-year contract.

At ASEDA FM, he became the Host of Saturday Evening’s Political Show, National Interest, and also the Morning Show Co-Host.

In February 2022, Koo Gyamfi became the substantive Morning Show Host of ASEDA FM’s ‘Ghana Nti’ Morning Show.

Robert Anokye Gyamfi has also been the sustainability manager of ASEDA FM, taught Communication Skills at Spanky Institute of Journalism and also currently teaches Media Law and Ethics at Aseda Institute of Journalism (AIJ)

His morning show is currently the most listened to Morning show in Obuasi and its environs.

He has done many interviews, prominent among them is interviewing Hon. Francis Addai Nimoh, NPP – Flagbearer Hopeful.
