FC AshantiGold has announced that its upcoming Access Bank Division One League Matchday 29 fixture against PAK Academy will be played behind closed doors due to security and safety concerns.
In a statement released by the club’s Communications Team, FC AshantiGold said the decision was reached after consultations with the club’s board and relevant authorities.
According to the statement, the measure is intended to ensure the safety of players, technical teams, match officials, club officials, and everyone connected to the game.
“This decision was taken after careful consideration and consultation with the Board and relevant authorities due to security and safety concerns surrounding the fixture,” the statement noted.
The club acknowledged that football thrives on the passion and support of fans but stressed that responsible decisions must be taken when circumstances demand.
FC AshantiGold also admitted that the decision may disappoint supporters but maintained that it is necessary to protect all stakeholders and maintain order during the match.
