Ghana to host Africa cricket tournament

Ghana has been given the hosting right for the second edition of the Africa Cricket Association North West Africa 2018 (ACA NWA) female tournament in Accra.

The tournament which aimed at rekindling the regional competition and to be the pathway for major championship will feature Nigeria, Sierra Leone, The Gambia and host nation Ghana at the Achimota Cricket Oval from January 19 to 22, 2018. 

Though the participating countries are expected to arrive on Friday January 18, 2018, Nigeria has requested to arrive earlier than the expected date for pre-tournament camping and acclimatization.

As part of measures to raise the required amount of 20,000 dollars for the competition, Tullow Ghana has given the Ghana Cricket Association an amount of GHC25,000 whiles, Parlays have also donated products and a cash promise.

Ghana which is poised to win the tournament on home soil started their residential camping last Friday at the Jubilee Hall of University of Ghana and will be heading straight to open their campaign against The Gambia on Friday before facing Nigeria and wrapping up with Sierra Leone in the 3 day event.

Ghana finished third in the last edition 2015 which was staged in Gambia.
