The flagbearer of Ghana Union Movement ( GUM), Rev Christian Kwabena Andrew affectionately called Osofo Kyiri Abosom has thrown jabs at former President of Ghana, John Agyekum Kuffour, calling him an unserious being for blaming Ghana’s woes on First President of Ghana, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. He said this during his interview with Obarima Kwadwo Gyamfi on Obuasi-based Aseda FM’s Morning Show on Thursday.
Background
Former President Kuffour has been trolled recently for his recent comment attributing Ghana’s woes to Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. The ‘Gentle JAK’ made this pronouncement when Kofi Adoma interviewed him on the current happenings in the country. The former president could not hide his fury than to square it on the failings of the first president’s inability to plan adequately. Speaking to Kofi, he said, hurriedly after independence, Nkrumah ambitiously embarked on industrialisation without thoughtful planning.
Response
The flagbearer of GUM in the 2020 general elections, Rev Christian Kwabena Andrew responding to the question posed by Obarima Kwadwo Gyamfi, host of the show on the struggles of Ghana now as attributed to Nkrumah, angrily labelled President Kuffour as an unserious being whose comment should be disregarded. Kyiri Abosom backed his claims of gross dislike for Nkrumah by the United Front as a basis for Kuffour’s unfortunate talk.
Their ( UP, today’s NPP) lack of vision and sheer hatred for the visionary Nkrumah necessitated the 1969 coup which brought Ghana on her knees.
“If we are suffering now, it’s the handiwork of the NPP”, Kyiri bosom asserted.
The furious party leader asked what great initiative did Kuffour leave behind? Blaming Ghana’s woes on Nkrumah is a mark of ungratefulness and old age forgetfulness on the part of the former NPP leader.
“Who owns the continental hotel built by Nkrumah,” he asked.
