Kwapia wins Time FM Intercommunity Tournament

Obuasi based Radio, Time FM organised a football tournament for various communities inside and outside Obuasi Municipality on Republic Day at Arhinkora park inside Obuasi secondary Technical School. To make the event a successful one and official were the Chief of Dompoase, Obuasi chief Imam, Municipal Chief Executive Officer, Assistant coach of Ashgold and the Parliamentary candidate for NPP Obuasi East.

 

The participating communities included; Wawase, Obuasi central, Kunka, Pewode, Ntonsua, Mile 14, Kwapia, Apitiso, Eptal community, Do Good FC, No Weapon FC, United Babies, Odotobiri, Obaahemaa Adutwumwaa FC, Osofo Lurgow FC and Spanky Institute of Journalism.

 The tournament was very competitive, as the best community teams qualified to the next stages of the competition. The anticipated semi-final game between Obuasi central and Obuasi Estate ended in goalless and was decided on penalty shootout, which Obuasi central lost 3-2. Kwapia won 4-3 on penalties against Spankey Institute of Journalism, which qualified them to play Estate in the grand finale.  We saw tactical display of football between Kwapia and Estate in the grand finale.

 At the end of the tournament Tonardo from Kwapia won the best Player and Bernard pf Kwapia also won the best goalkeeper award.  Kwapia community took away Go TV Decoder, two wall clocks , twenty branded T-shirt from FTS Investment, two boxes of Kasapreko Air Force Bitters and a standing fan and second placed community, Estate, took away twenty branded T-shirt, two wall clocks and a standing fan.
