Listeners of shaft FM’s newspaper review segment will greatly miss the sweet feminine voice that always makes their morning. Lovia Laria left the first radio station in Obuasi, Shaft FM, to Good News FM in Techiman citing personal reasons. Lovia is currently the twi newscaster for the station and is also a panel member on their newspaper review segment.
Shaft FM has over the past few years witnessed the exodus of some of their finest presenters to other media houses in and outside the Municipality. Notably among them are Papa Akwatic, Prof. Malik, Ghanaba Dzivon, Awuku and Viper. They lost some presenters to Time FM when the new station started transmission in Obuasi. On Monday, another member of Shaft FM’s sports team, Cinco De Maio joined the new radio boys in town, Sikapa FM.
Lovia’s departure is a big blow since she is one of the few prominent female voices of the station.
Shaft FM started transmission in Obuasi over 17 years ago and they were the only station in Obuasi for many years till Time FM came in. The Adansi Communications, owners of Shaft FM, brought in some of the best presenters the Municipality has ever seen in the radio industry. DJ Amuz, currently of Adom TV, King Zuba, Obuasi MCE from 2013 to 2016, Hon. John Ackon, former Ashanti regional minister, Mr. Richard Kojo Ellimah, Executive Director for Centre for Social Impact Studies, Sir Francis of blessed memory and a host of others were part of the Shaft FM team that made those days memorable.
With four radio stations competing for audience in the golden city, Shaft FM needs to do more to keep its presenters and improve its audience.
