The District Chief Executive for Obuasi, Honorable Faustina Amissah has praised the management of the Anglogold Ashanti’s Community Trust Fund for supporting the communities within which they operate. The Obuasi East D C E was speaking at events to commission five (5) major projects on Tuesday, 27th November, 2018 in the Obuasi Municipal, Obuasi East and the Adansi North Assemblies.
The five (5) projects totaling GH₵ 437,687.25 included 20 seater water closets with ancillary facility at Apitikookoo, Drilled and Mechanized borehole with concrete structure at Dadwen, Obuasi Senior High School, Anyimadukrom and Kwabrafo West.
Honorable Amissah admonished the beneficiary communities to observe proper maintenance culture to ensure that the facilities can serve future generations. She again tasked the Water and Sanitation (WASAN) Committee in the communities to put proper mechanism in place to maintain the facility.
In his address, the Senior Manager, Sustainability, Anglogold Ashanti (AGA) Nana Ampofo Bekoe thanked the people of Obuasi for their support to the company over the years. He said the gesture forms part of Anglogold Ashanti’s vision to develop the communities within which they operate.
Nana Ampofo also called for proper maintenance of the facilities and called for the communities’ water and Sanitation (WASAN) Committees to be properly constituted to manage them. AGA Community Trust Fund was launched in 2012 as per the stability agreement between AGA and the Government of Ghana.
The MMDCEs in the various districts of the beneficiary communities, Heads of Department and Management of AGA Community Trust Fund were all present.
