Honorable Elijah Adansi-Bonah, the Chief Executive of Obuasi Municipal Assembly has applauded AngloGold Ashanti for massive infrastructural projects contained in their 10-year Socio-Economic Development Plan.
Speaking to the media after joining officials from AngloGold Ashanti, Heads of public institutions and the media to tour projects site, Hon Adansi-Bonah said the company has lived up to the accolade as a partner in development stressing that the projects undertaken by the company are transformational and complement goverment’s developmental agenda for Obuasi.
The MCE and the team visited the Apitikooko CHPS compound site, the Binsere/Dokyiwa Health center, the Robotic center at the Obuasi Senior High Technical School and the Obuasi Municipal Examination center.
He again, commended the President His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his efforts in reviving AngloGold Ashanti. ” What AGA is doing now is a testament to the confidence reposed in them by the President who fought tooth and nail to ensure that AGA gets back to its feet. We say thank you, Mr. President”.
Hon. Adansi- Bonah particularly mentioned the health intervention projects of AngloGold Ashanti saying Obuasi has now become a health hub in the Ashanti Region.
He emphasized that aside the various health facilities AGA is constructing in Obuasi, the Government is building the Obuasi Accident and Trauma center, the Obuasi Government rehabilitation project, the Central Market Health center as well as other health facilities which are at various stages of completion.
The Obuasi MCE again, lauded AngloGold Ashanti for the Robotic center at the Obuasi Senior High Technical School.
He appealed to the Ghana Education Service to adopt the school as a STEM after the project is completed.
The team from AngloGold Ashanti was led by Mavis Nana Yaa Kyei, the Gender and Social Development Superintendent of the company.
She thanked the Municipal Assembly and the traditional authorities for their role through the construction phases of the projects.
She said AngloGold Ashanti is committed to making sure the communities they operate in are better of with the company existence.
” The projects line up in our 10-year Socio-Economic Development Plan were carefully selected in consultation with our stakeholders knowing that it will transform the communities we operate it. As a company, we always make sure the projects we start are completed and handed over to the beneficiary communities “.
The projects visited are at various stages of completion. Workers were busy on site during the visit.
