The President and CEO for The Institute for Security, Disaster and Emergency Studies, Dr. Ishmael Norman has spoken out on the government’s decision to deploy security personnel to the various places for the upcoming New Voter’s Registration.
Mr. Norman, speaking to the host of shaft FM morning show Mensah Justice Dzivon (Ghanaba) on Monday morning, articulated the government’s decision to deploy security personnel at the various border towns in events leading to the compilation of voter’s registration as a good one if it is not going to be in the volta region only.
‘But the question is why deploy military at our borders if what government is telling us about the closure of our borders is anything to go by” he quizzed.
Dr. Ishmael Norman added that it is a great move on the part of the government to prevent strangers outside Ghana from coming to register and vote during elections.
He also said the claim by some persons that Voltarians are not Ghanaians is not only absurd but also ridiculous and such can only be proven by the people making those claims.
“In order to create the impression of protecting the territorial integrity of Ghana, the development will not take place only in the Volta region but across the entire regions in the country as a demonstration of fairness” said Dr. Ishmael Norman.
“I can’t really tell if this exercise is going to take place in the Volta region only but I believe it’s going to be effective in every region”, he added.
