Dr Patrick Boakye, the Member of Parliament for Obuasi East constituency has attacked the former president of Ghana and 2020 flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Mahama, for saying his party has learnt its lessons following their loss in the 2020 elections.
Addressing party executives and supporters in Bolgatanga in the Upper East region, President Mahama assured them that the NDC, in the 2024 elections, would put all measures in place to win on the ground and avoid going to the Supreme Court for redress.
“That lesson has been painfully learnt and shall not be forgotten. Elections are won or lost at the polling stations and collation levels and doing everything right, not at the Supreme Court” he added.
But the lawmaker from Obuasi East wasn’t happy with his statement, attacking the former Presidents post on his Facebook page. He said John Mahama has been in the game for too long to be learning this lesson now. He added that the 2020 flagbearer would not come to power again so he should give the Ghanaian people a break.

“Mr Fmr Prez, you’re too old in the game to be learning these elementary lessons. Simply tell your supporters you’re sorry for failing to apply what you know and that’s what we describe as incompetence. Knowing very well that you did not select good and well-trained agents all the way from polling stations to the national collation centre, what were your reasons for rejecting the election results and your resort to the SC with the bogus and needless petition?? To calm down the tempers of your supporters? This can also be described as an act of incompetence. You had several opportunities to serve your people and you did your best. You had your turn at the Presidency and you failed to do two terms. That was a missed opportunity and accept it as such. Please John, let me tell you. You better stop wasting your time and that of your supporters and more importantly that of Ghanaians. Give us a break because your comeback aren’t going to happen. Insha Allah!!”
