The construction of a Block wall, fencing and Security post for both Obuasi Senior High and Christ the King Catholic Senior High Schools, that was scheduled for completion in less than six months, is currently 9 years old and yet to be completed.
According to the 2015 Annual Performance Report that seeks to monitor the development growth of Districts and Municipalities, the above projects, which commenced on 10th August,2010 and had 12th February, 2011 to complete have been left to rot.
Project Amount and Expenditure.
The project was funded with money from the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF), with a total contractor amount of Ghcs 610,364.04.
As at the time of this report, the contractor, M/S Barima company limited, have spent Ghcs 194,383.43 on both projects .
Visit to the schools.
The news team arrived at CKCSHS via the main entrance and witnessed the yet to be completed fence and security post. A staff of the school who spoke on condition of anonymity, said “ever since this project was halted , we’ve been doing our best to complete the fencing but its not easy”.
The Obuasi Municipal Assembly, in the report,admitted their inability to honour their side of agreements and the slow pace on the side of contractors as causes for the abandonment of the project.
