2023 BECE: Obuasi East MP Cautions Students Against Exams Malpractice

The Member of Parliament for the Obuasi East Constituency Hon Patrick Boakye Yiadom has admonished candidates writing the Basic Education Certificate Examinations to desist from all forms of examination malpractice.


Speaking to the Media after accompanying the District Chief Executive, Hon Faustina Amissah to tour the BECE centers, the Lawmaker said the children should believe in their abilities and not habor any intention of indulging in any form of malpractice as a means to pass their exams
He said ” I am optimistic that the efforts put into their studies over the years will translate into good results for them”.


Giving her impression on how the Examinations are being conducted, the Chief Executive for the Obuasi East District, Hon. Faustina Amissah said based on the mood of the students, she was confident that the students were poised to pass the exams.
On the turn out for the exams, Hon Amissah said she was particularly excited with the number of girls registered for the exams saying gone are the days when most of them absent themselves from school due to pregnancy and other related factors.
” Though one girl reported to the exams centers pregnant, I am happy that she defied all the odds to participate in this examinations. I urge all those who are in similar situation to also come and write the exams”.
The DCE however appealed to parents to consider Technical Vocational Education and Training adding that it was free and had enormous benefits.


The District Education Director, Kwabena Owusu Nketia said the Directorate had collaborated with the Assembly to prepare the students adequately for the exams. He was optimistic that the students will pass and maintain Obuasi’s status as the hub of quality education in the country.
He reiterated that the education directorate has put in place measures to forestall examination malpractice. He said a serialization method has been put in place to ensure that the students were not able to copy from one another.
Over 1,924 students from both private and public schools were registered for the exams. Out of the number, 1,444 represented public schools whiles 480 of them registered in the private schools. 905 were male students whiles 1019 of them were female students.
Three centers were also designated for the exams. These include, Christ the king Catholic School, Artic School and Boete School.
