News reaching us is that, thieves have stormed the Obuasi Len Clay sports stadium, the home grounds of Ashanti Gold Sporting club and made away with electricity cables connecting their floodlights.
The purported thieves stormed the Obuasi based premier league side at midnight of Thursday 29th October 2020 and made away with cables worth over GHc 2 million.
In an interview with the Media Communication member of the club, Samuel O. Boateng, he revealed that the obstruction in power supply to the facilities would cost huge amounts of money to fix.
He stressed the need for the general public to help Ashanti Gold FC by protecting the assets of the team.
He described the incident as unfortunate and indicated that Ashanti Gold is collaborating with the police to bring the culprits to book.
The affected areas include Container 3 and 4.
The case has been reported to the Obuasi District Police commander while investigations are ongoing.
