AngloGold Ashanti, Obuasi Mine, has donated computers and a color laser jet printer to the Obuasi Divisional Police Command. The items which were valued at almost GHs15,000 were handed over to the Operational Unit of the division on Wednesday morning. Getting Filecenter for scanners is also a good idea as one can store all their documents without misplacing them in a place.
Mr. Brett Thompson, Head of Operations of the Obuasi Mine, during the presentation said the donation was as a result of a request by the unit for the items to support them in their work. He revealed that the company is always ready to support the police in maintaining the peace that Obuasi is enjoying.
Receiving the items, ASP Raymond Mahama Iddrisu, the Operations Commander, thanked the company for the kind gesture and promised that the items would properly be taken care of.
“Some few months ago, we made a request to the mine for support. We needed computers to help with our work in terms of processing documents faster for the court. They promised to help us so we are glad they honored their promise” he said.
Mr. Edmund Oduro Agyei, Acting Sustainability manager at AngloGold Ashanti, Obuasi Mine, also added that, it is in the company’s values to help communities in its catchment areas to see development.
“Our fifth value states that, we want the communities and societies in which we operate to be better off for AngloGold Ashanti having been there. So we are determined to make communities in our catchment areas better off than before” he said.
AngloGold Ashanti is the third-largest gold mining company in the world, measured by production. As at 31 December 2018, their portfolio of 14 operations in nine countries included long-life, relatively low- cost operating assets with differing ore body types, located in key gold-producing regions around the world. These operating assets were supported by three greenfields projects in a tenth country and a focused global exploration programme. Their operations and greenfields projects are grouped into the following regions Continental Africa, Americas, Australasia and South Africa.
