The Managing Director of AngloGold Ashanti, Obuasi Mine, Mr. Eric Asubonteng on behalf of the mine has donated eight motorbikes to the eight circuit supervisors in Obuasi Municipal and Obuasi East District Directorates Of Education to facilitate the work of the Circuit Supervisors and strengthen school supervision in Obuasi.
Mr. Eric Asubonteng revealed that the donation is part of the mine’s three years Social Management Plan(SMP) focusing prominently on education with the objective of contributing to increasing pass rate in Examination in Obuasi from 81 to 90% by the year 2021. Each motorcycle costs $1000.
The Director of Education for the Obuasi East District, Mrs. Leticia Obeng, who received the bikes on behalf of the Obuasi Municipal and the Obuasi East Directorates of Education said the motor bikes which will be given to the circuit supervisors have arrived at the right time and will enhance easy mobility to the various schools during this COVID-19 period.
The Divisional Chief of Edubiase Traditional Area, Oguashia Oduropanin Brikoran who was also present at the gathering commended the Mine for their kind gesture and also asked them to create more opportunities to employ students from Obuasi when they complete their education.
