A Communications officer for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Solomon Nkansah on Tuesday accused the management of AngloGold, Ashanti Obuasi mine for making government unpopular by bringing Military guards to patrol their concessions.
Speaking on Obuasi based TIME FM 96.9’s morning show, hosted by Nana Kwabena Yeboah last Tuesday, the former Propaganda secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) said it was a deliberate act on the side of AGA to bring in Military and also barricade their sites.
“Why did AGA decide to bring in the Military and also barricade all their sites, where were they expecting the locals to eat from? They are deliberately making the government unpopular”, he stated.
According to the NDC firebrand, it was deliberate attempts by the management of the mine to let the young men in the Obuasi Municipality go hungry.
Mr. Solomon Nkansah added that, so far as the NDC government is a Social democrat inclined, they will never look on as the young men of Obuasi go hungry.
“The government can’t be dictated for and as social democrats, we will protect the interest of the people first before anything else”, he said.
