Project Manager – Rails

ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

The Project Manager – Rails will work directly with the Project Director and Mining Projects Manager to lead construction and re-establishment of underground rail haulage system with bottom tipping arrangement and provide clear cut direction on the delivery of the project. Additionally, he/she is responsible for managing the planning and programming activities of the rail project to ensure the most efficient use of resources and successful completion of the project in accordance with the contract.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Lead the rail project team and provide direction on the delivery of the project
  • Manage construction of 80lb underground rails and pantograph installation
  • Manage interfaces with tipping chutes and rail hopper tipping constructions
  • Manage the scope of works across the project to successful completion
  • Manage refurbishment/upgrade of loco heads and wagons

Compliance Officer: Ghana

ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT 

The role holder will be accountable for Compliance within Ghana and will be reporting to the Vice President: Group Compliance.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Compliance Training
    • Manage online training with IT and HR through Learning Management System (“LMS”) for all Compliance related training, ensure training is allocated to joiners, current employees and relevant contractors as required.
    • Manage technical queries related to online training with IT.
    • Ensure that the assigned training modules/programmes for the country/sites are completed within the required time frame. Assist and guide employees where necessary and escalate to Group Compliance as needed.
    • Report on completion of all courses at site/country level.
    • Follow up with learning defaulters through to completion and/or escalate issues where relevant.
    • Conduct employee/contractor induction and other “face to face” training on Compliance and Ethics and other regulatory compliance training as required.
    • Assist with update and renewal of training material to ensure relevance.
  • Declarations
    • Manage site/country declarations in relation to conflicts of interest, gifts, hospitality and sponsorships.
    • Monitor and assess “integrity” of management actions when approving or disallowing. Issue reports based on sites and nature and management actions (approval, rejection etc.).
    • Manage online registers for political activities and communication on them as necessary.
    • Maintain calendar for local/national elections.
  • Communications
    • Manage and maintain an effective compliance communication program for the country, including communicating key compliance messaging to the country/site, including to promoted heightened awareness of the Code of Business Principles and Ethics, policies and procedures, and bribery/corruption, ethics, conflicts of interest, gifts, etc.)

  • Reporting

          to Conflicts of Interest Declarations, Gifts, Responsible Sourcing, legal registers, training, confidential reporting, investigations etc.

  • Combined Assurance Audits

           Participate and provide input into Combined Assurance Audits

  • Policies and procedures

          Assist in the review/ development and implementation of country/site policies and procedures.

  • Group-wide Compliance alignment

          Align and implement the necessary systems and processes at country and sites to meet Group-wide compliance, ethics, anti-corruption

          and anti-bribery program objectives. Collaborate with other departments, including internal audit, security, procurement, legal, human

          resources, etc.

  • Regulatory Compliance
    • Conduct certification of country legal registers (including in relation to Tailing Storage Facilities) to ensure that AGA complies with applicable laws.
    • Assist with ensuring in-country compliance to the broad spectrum of regulatory and legislative requirements.
  • Agents and Intermediaries

          Maintain registry of Agents and intermediaries in line with Procedure on Engagements of Agents and Government Intermediaries and

          ensure compliance with the requirements of the procedure.

  • Third Party due diligence

           Co-ordinate, manage and monitor third party due diligence, including (i) suppliers/vendors (ii) agents/ intermediaries, and (iii) potential

           Directors; (iv) JV partners (v) project partners (vi) CSI projects (vii) other ad hoc requests.

  • Responsible Sourcing
    • Assess Supplier Assessment Questionnaires and perform compliance-related due diligence on vendors.
    • Understand and classify vendors according to their risk profile, manage and mitigate the risk posed by the vendor by implementing sufficient controls.
  • Books and Records: Government Officials
    • Ensure that all payments to government officials are completely and accurately reported in AGA books and records.
    • Assist in compiling, auditing, and reviewing the relevant registers and documentation supporting these payments.
  • Reporting and Investigation of compliance incidents or violations
    • Identify and report compliance violations (and potential violations, including potential violations of the Code of Business Principles and Ethics).

Security Superintendent – Underground.

ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

To assist the Senior Manager – Security in managing the Security team to ensure the maintenance of law and order and safeguarding (prevention/detection/protection) of the Company’s assets (life and property) in and around the Underground Mining Operations. This will be done in tandem with AGA global security standards and in line with Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR).

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Provide leadership, direction and mentor team for delivery of set targets.
  • Provide supervisors with work-related information regarding individuals (positive and negative) within the team and any obstacles that may hinder performance.
  • Regular interaction with staff to ensure they have a clear understanding of what is expected of them and update them on challenges and state of Obuasi Security requirements.

Engineering Superintendent – Reliability.

ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

The Engineering Superintendent – Reliability is accountable for the development and implementation of QA/QC, condition monitoring and analysis, reliability of Surface and Underground Fixed Plant Infrastructure maintenance, including the Surface Processing Plant, Surface Mine Infrastructure, and Surface Support Infrastructure, Underground Mine Infrastructure, Hoists and Shaft Infrastructure and Heavy Mobile Equipment through the application of operational engineering policies, standards, systems and procedures to maximise plant availability in a sustainable cost-effective manner and minimize operational risks in order to meet the business’ strategic objective.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Deliver the Safety Management plan elements for the areas under the incumbent’s control.
  • Provide technical input to the Safety Manager, Refurbishment Manager, Planning Manager, Technical services manager and Construction Manager in order to develop the safety management plan for the construction and refurbishment works, consistent with AGA’s Integrated Management System and Standards.
  • Review the application of safety standards and work practices for the refurbishment construction workforce to enable the safety targets to be managed and achieved.
  • Apply HSE regulations with zero tolerance to breaches.
  • Lead by example to create a safe working environment, where risks are assessed and managed, so tasks are performed without risk of injury or harm.
  • Apply the ‘working elements’ (inspections, audits, JHA, etc.) of the Safety Management System and deliver compliance.

  • Utilise ‘Analyse and Improve’ tools to investigate process interruptions so that exposure to environmental risks is reduced.
  • Reduce energy usage by running the plant energy consumption per unit produced at the optimal rate within sphere of influence
  • Support the Processing Department to maintain Cyanide Code certification.
  • Establish the Chemical laboratory, reliability and legal compliance team required to support the role holder in executing the project.
  • Identify skill deficiencies and initiate corrective action.
  • Support interface management with the EPCM contractor for construction and refurbishment works.
  • Liaise with the Manager Planning to develop maintenance planning and management outcomes that include QA/QC – analysis by chemical lab, reliability and condition monitoring, legal and compliance.
  • Communicate accurate and timely construction schedule delivery, progress, cost and quality information in the area of accountability.
  • Collaborate with Construction Manager on new builds safety, compliance, operability, standards, maintainability, and reliability.
  • Support the development and implementation of systems for the Engineering department to provide effective quality planning of work, efficient and safe work practices, monitoring of performance and promote continuous improvement.
  • Operate the QA/QC of maintenance of the processing plant, surface and underground mine infrastructure during the Phase 3 Operations.
  • Ensure the work carried out by the maintenance team is of a standard that supports the operational requirements of the equipment and is at optimum cost.
  • Identify sub-standard work practices and take action to eliminate them and identify the root cause of these poor work practices.
  • Lead a team of engineers to specify, design, analyze and verify new components and systems.

  • Ensure all subordinates are competent in the utilisation of the SAP asset maintenance management system for reliability and condition monitoring, QA/QC to support a smooth transition into operations.
  • Liaise and work collaboratively with the procurement team to establish the inventory and spare parts for the processing plant and inspect all refurbishment works to ensure works are delivered in accordance with applicable designs, specifications and expectations.
  • Oversee refurbishment witness inspections and testing regime to ensure quality and or performance is in line with obligations and expectations.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Qualification

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical or Maintenance Engineering or equivalent.
  • Masters’ Degree in Management will be an advantage
  • Financial, commercial and project management through work experience and courses

Experience 

  • An experienced QA/QC engineer with 10+ years’ experience in the reliability and condition monitoring of Surface Processing Plant, Surface and Underground Mine and Support Infrastructure maintenance

AP System Advisor.

ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

The SAP System Advisor is accountable for coordinating and delivering the SAP PM business solution in AGAG to fully function within the agreed budget costs and timeframes. The role holder will lead the set-up of SAP and will be monitoring the progress and controlling the progress directly using the AGAG planners through the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning stages, interfacing and coordinating the SAP PM activities for all the equipment at AGAG.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Deliver the Safety Management plan elements for the areas under the incumbent’s control
  • Provide technical input to the Safety Manager, Refurbishment Manager, Planning Manager, Technical Services Manager and Construction Manager in order to develop the safety management plan for the construction and refurbishment works, consistent with AGA’s Integrated Management System and Standards.
  • Review the application of safety standards and work practices for the refurbishment construction workforce to enable the safety targets to be managed and achieved.
  • Advise and train the planners on the use of SAP PM in the planning the of the construction, refurbishment and maintenance activities in accordance with the Government of Ghana conditions of approvals and the site’s Environmental Management Plan
  • Issue environmental related instruction to any employees at the workplace
  • As a minimum, achieve zero reportable environmental incidents, zero compliance breaches and no events requiring public disclosure

  • Lead the implementation of AMPL, TM1 and support the AGA Asset Management framework implementation in Obuasi
