As part of AngloGold Ashanti, Obuasi Mine’s effort to support agricultural development in Obuasi and Ghana at large, the company has donated various items to all eight (8) district and municipal authorities within the Adansi and Amansie Traditional Areas to reward deserving farmers for the 2019 farmers day celebrations.
The donation forms part of the broader Social Management Plan which seeks to contribute to the economic development of AGA’s host communities.
The districts that benefited from the donation include the Obuasi Municipal Assembly, Obuasi East District Assembly, Amansie Central District Assembly and Bekwai Municipal Assembly. The rest are Akrofuom District Assembly, Adansi North District Assembly, Adansi South District Assembly and Asokwa District Assembly.
Specifically, AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine, funded the items to be donated to winners in the first prize category for the various districts. The items were valued at GHc94,503.00 and they included Motorized Tricycle, 32″ LED TVs, Knapsack Sprayer, 8″ Double sized mattress and Wellington Boots among others.
