AngloGold Ashanti, Obuasi Mine, has made donations worth GHc150,000 to eight districts in its catchment areas in support of this year’s Farmers Day celebration. This is part of the Obuasi Mine’s effort to support agricultural development in Obuasi and Ghana at large. All eight (8) districts and municipal authorities are within the Adansi and Amansie Traditional Areas.
The donation forms part of the broader Social Management Plan of the Mine which seeks to contribute to the economic development of AGA’s host communities.
The districts that benefited from the donation include the Obuasi Municipal Assembly, Obuasi East District Assembly, Amansie Central District Assembly and Bekwai Municipal Assembly. The rest are Akrofuom District Assembly, Adansi North District Assembly, Adansi South District Assembly and Asokwa District Assembly.
Emmanuel Baidoo, Senior Manager, Sustainability at the Obuasi Mine handed over the donation to the representatives of the various districts on behalf of the Mine.
AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine, funded the items to be donated to winners in the first prize category for the various districts. The items were valued at GHc150,000 and they included Motorized Tricycle, 32″ LED TVs, Knapsack Sprayers and other farm tools.
