Ashanti Region EC Boss Impressed With First Phase Of Voter Registration Figures In Ashanti Region

The Ashanti Regional Director Of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mr. Benjamin Bannor Bio has spoken out on the impressive figures of the number of people participating in the new voters registration after the first phase in the Ashanti Region.

Mr. Benjamin Bannor Bio on Monday in an interview during the Shaft FM morning show said he was impressed with the number of people who registered in the first phase of the registration exercise.

“The EC registered 59,514 people on the first day,71,144 people on the second day,84,207 people on day three,76,154 people on the fourth day and 66,734 people on day five but unfortunately we could not record the figures for the sixth day,” the EC Regional Boss made known.

According to him, the percentage of females who took part in the registration outnumbered the males with 53.9% of the total registration being females and 46.1% being males.

“72.3% of the people came to register with the Ghanacard, 1.7% registered with their passport and the remaining 26% registered through guarantee indicating that majority of the population in the Ashanti Region has the Ghana card” he said.

He finally admonished the inhabitants living in the various areas within the Ashanti Region for the second phase of registration to also show maximum interest in the registration in order to be able to exercise their political power during the election.
