Assin North Basic School located on the premises of Assin North Senior High Technical School has organized an eight day vacation camp for basic school children under 12 years in the Assin North Municipality and surrounding communities.
The camp which equipped the participants with the skills of identifying self, and building self esteem was on the theme Picking my place in the twenty-first century-The Ghanaian child. The maiden camp provided campers with a variety of activities ranging from creative art, sports, adventure, sciences and counselling.
The teen camp also harnessed the potentials of children through creative learning, soft skills acquisition and hands-on life skills lesson in a fun and challenging environment.
Facilitators throughout the camp period adopted activities that encouraged campers to pursue new interest, cultivate friendships and develop their strengths. Campers were encouraged to pursue choice based arts, adventure and athletics activities which have a broader impact on their development.
Addressing participants and facilitators of the school the Headmistress of Assin North Senior High Technical School, Mrs. Miriam Augusta Adjei Amponsem urged parents and teachers to imbibe in their children morals, ethics and values in the upbringing of their children.
She observed that such ingredients which are critical for the development of children appear to be missing in recent times. The vacation camp was therefore organised to fill this gap.
