CHELSEA BEAT SOUTHAMPTON TO EDGE CLOSER TO PREMIER LEAGUE TITLE

Premier league leaders Chelsea strengthened their grip at the top of the table by beating Southampton 4-2 at Stamford bridge last night. The win moves them seven points clear of nearest challengers Tottenham who travel to crystal palace on Wednesday. Goals from PFA player of the year nominee Eden Hazard, Captain Gary Cahill and a brace from Diego Costa were enough to see off Southampton’s challenge. Southampton’s goals came from two ex-Chelsea players in Oriol Romeu and 2012 champions league winner Ryan Bertrand.

Chelsea will be hoping for a slip-up from in-form Tottenham when they face London rivals Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. Crystal Palace are in a good form of their own having beaten Chelsea,Liverpool and Arsenal in recent weeks to move clear of the relegation zone.
Chelsea’s next game is on Sunday when they travel to Goodison Park to face Everton.
