The Amansie Central District Chief Executive, Hon. Michael Donkor has donated a total of one thousand, nine hundred and eighty-eight (1988) desks to the district education directorate. The desks included 1158 dual desks and 733 mono desks.
Explaining what called for the donation, the DCE revealed that during his visits to the schools in the district with the district director of Education, he realized that some of the schools lacked furniture.
“It was sad to know that some students had no desks to study on. So this donation has come to enable the students to study comfortably in class” he said.
He further called on headteachers and teachers to help in taking good care of the desks and their maintenance.
Receiving the desks on behalf of the directorate, the Amansie Central District Director of Education, Nana Pokua Amoako thanked the DCE for the donation and added that the donation has lifted a big burden from her.
“The main challenge we are facing as a directorate is inadequate furniture. We visit some schools and 2 or 3 students will be using a dual desk and even a mono desk being used by 2 students” she said. “This is a timely donation”
She also called on heads of schools to prevent churches who worship in the schools from carrying the desks in and out of the classrooms before and after their services. According to her, carrying the desks in and out of the classrooms regularly makes the desks weaker in no time.
