It’s normal to attend a Christian program in Obuasi just for the singing and dancing. Nobody will say it wasn’t a good show unless the singers messed up their songs. But the new look of Christian events introduced by the Executive Director of Youth for Christ Mission and the CEO of PhilBens Events, Eben OheneYaw Mensah , goes far beyond singing and dancing. It involves laughing!
In August, 2016, Youth for Christ Mission had the first edition of their Extravagant Worship and Comedy Night and as the name implies, comedy ended it all. Though there are still people out there who believes comedy has no place in the house of God, it has not deterred the young Christian from involving the act into his events. But if I may ask, “If a child of God is a comedian, where should he ply his trade, at a drinking spot?” I don’t need the answer though.
After introducing comedy into Praises and Worship events in Obuasi, he showed the students of University for Development Studies in Tamale how to do it too when after powerful ministrations and prayer sessions, Hillarious Shizzles took the stage to put laughter into everyone’s mouth at the Healing Worship Night in January this year. It was a night to remember.
This year, Eben has promised to still pack the next edition of the Extravagant Worship and Comedy Night (EWCON) with more comedians including the Bishop of Comedy, Parrot Mouth from Nigeria who was present at last year’s event.
“Many people come to the house of God with heavy hearts and they can’t leave the same way. Whiles they are given something to think of and smile spiritually, we must also give them something to think of and smile physically,” Eben told Sindefeated.com.
But before the EWCON’17, Eben Ankapong through his event organizing group, Philbens Events in collaboration with OFM107.7 organized Laugh Out Loud 2017, a night full of jazz music and comedy. I believe that will whet your appetite for the big event few months’ time. This program came off at the AGA Club house on July 1. Performers for the night included Parrot Mouth from Nigeria, Hillarious Shizzles from Ghana, Pararran from Nigeria, Kalybos, Kwaku Manu, Kossi Akpla and many more.
Speaking to Sindefeated.com , the young Enterpriser made it known that he soon will be unveiling a new event which is geared towards helping the youth find love. The man must marry movement president indicated that his outfit is working hard behind the scenes to host a lovers dinner which will create a platform for lovers to bond and also for singles to meet prospective lovers. 
Laughter, they say, is medicine so next time you attend a Christian event inside a church auditorium in Obuasi and a comedian is called to the stage to crack jokes, as you take a dose of that medicine, remember the first doctor who introduced it in the Golden City, Eben OheneYaw Mensah.
