The Municipal Chief Executive for Obuasi, Mr Elijah Adansi Bonah on delivering the President’s speech on the 61st Independence Day celebration entreated Ghanaians to contribute our quota to make the President’s dream of making Ghana Beyond Aid a reality.
Speaking at the celebration, he said Ghana has wasted enough time and its time to work hard to improve ourselves. He added that, enterprise creativity is required for our progress.
Mr. Bonah said we must abolish the dependency theory in us and adopt a can-do spirit. This is meant to put us in charge and believe in ourselves.
He then encouraged Ghanaians to make use of our natural resources
like cocoa, bauxite and gold. He then cautioned against mismanagement and stealing of public funds.
Some dignitaries who graced the celebration with their presence were Nana Bosompem Kitikyi Apenteng II (Dompoase konkyihene , representing the Dompase hene), Nana Yamoa Bosope (Dompoase Bankumhene), Alhaji Ussif Iddrisu (Municipal Chief Iman), Bishop Yaw Afoakwa (Obuasi Catholic Bishop ), Honorable John Alexander Akon (former MCE) and Doctor Patrick Boakye Yiadom (M.P. for Obuasi west).
