Godfred Acheampong Leads Another Transformative Initiative: Beginning the Year with the Street

On Saturday, January 11, 2025, the Pomposo Asokore Electoral Area in Obuasi in the Ashanti Region will witness an inspiring community outreach program titled “Beginning the Year with the Street.” Spearheaded by Godfred Acheampong, the Project Director, this impactful event promises to bring hope, health, and smiles to the less privileged, setting a positive tone for the year.

A Day of Care and Compassion

Central to the event is the free medical screening, where community members will have access to essential health checks, ensuring early detection and management of common illnesses. Health professionals will be on-site to provide vital services, including blood pressure monitoring, glucose level testing, and general consultations, giving residents a clearer understanding of their health status.

In a bid to ensure better vision for all, the program will feature free eye care services, allowing individuals to receive professional examinations and necessary treatments for eye-related conditions. Coupled with this is the inclusion of dental screening, ensuring that oral health, often neglected, is brought to the forefront of healthcare awareness.

One of the event’s most impactful components is the cervical cancer screening, empowering women with life-saving information and early detection. This critical service highlights the importance of preventive healthcare, particularly in communities where access to such services is limited.

Beyond health, the event also addresses the economic and social needs of vulnerable groups. Widows in the community will receive African prints, a thoughtful gesture that not only uplifts their spirits but also recognizes their invaluable role in society. The elderly will benefit from free NHIS card renewals, ensuring that they continue to have access to essential healthcare services without financial barriers.

As part of its mission to foster a sense of inclusion, the initiative will also serve food and drinks to individuals living on the streets

    A Collaborative Effort

This initiative is supported by several organizations and sponsors, including Lizmok Pharmaceutical Limited, NHIS, Holistic Eye Centre, Successlink Consult, StarLife Assurance, Telecel, and MTN, among others.
