A 37 year old young man in Mampamhwe, a suburb in Obuasi was gruesomely murdered at dawn today. The young man was found some 200 meters away from his room with his tongue cut off. The deceased who was popularly known as ‘Gawucho’ is believed to have been murdered in his room before been dumped outside. There was lots of blood in his room.
Mampamhwe is a little town which is just 10 minutes’ drive from Kwabenakwa in the Obuasi Municipality. The mother of the deceased said his son had no issue in anyone in the town.
“He was very good to everyone and because he used to play football, everyone calls him Gawucho. That is the name everyone calls him around here”, she said.
“Early in the morning, my elder daughter came to me at Asonkore and informed me that Ofori is dead. I asked her if he was sick and she said no. I never knew he was murdered.”
Ofori was found with blood in his mouth and nose.
“Recently someone said he has intruded his farm by harvesting his palm nut fruit and the man called for his arrest but it was later realized that someone sold the palm nut trees to him and he only went there to harvest the nuts. The palm trees were subsequently countered by the police and it emerged that the plaintiff had rather added Ofori’s palm nut trees to his. The matter was brought to the Kwabenakwa palace and amicably settled. This happened two months ago”, the mother explained.
The Reagent of Mampamhwe, Nana Frimpong Boamah, has poured libation and the corpse has been taken away by the police for further investigation.
