Madam Margaret Aniawu- Asumakah, an employee of AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mines, has been adjudged the 2021 Female Mining Professional of the year at the 7th Ghana Mining Industry Awards at the Accra Marriott Hotel.
The 7th Ghana Mining Industry Awards was organized by the Ghana Chamber of Mines with support from the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, the Minerals Commission and the Environmental Protection Agency.
Ing. Margaret Aniawu Asumakah took up the 1st run-up award last year but grabbed the ultimate award this year. Ing. Margaret Edith Arkoh of the AngloGold Ashanti Iduaprime Mine took up the 1st runner-up award.
A graduate from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Margaret Aniawu-Asumakah holds a bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering.

MadamAniawu-Asumakah, first joined Anglo Gold Ashanti as a Service Personnel before gaining employment as a Metallurgist in the Processing Plant of the Company where she works till date.
In other to add value to her work, she completed several researched process optimizations. She worked in all sectors of the Processing plant includes crushers and Mining, Flotation, Biological Oxidation, Carbon in-Leach, Back-fill and Water Treatment Plant.
Through perseverance she was named and retained in the company as Senior Metallurgist within the shortest possible time to run affairs of the company among the few other staffs when the mine went in to Care and Maintenance phase in 2014.
Madam Asumakah currently has a Mineral Commission Superintendent Certificate and was promoted to a Managerial position as a Plant Metallurgical Specialist.
