Tension is gradually mounting on the selection of Gridco new chief executive officer which according to reliable source from the premises of the company, the new CEO is likely to emerge from Volta River Authority but not from Gridco.
The situation according to sources has generated heat and arguments on the part of the leadership of Gridco that the selection of personnel to take the office of the chief executive which always comes from different institution is very bad and if government do not look into it this time around, it is likely to cause tension.
Reliable sources available to this paper reveals that there is a new chief executive officer who is coming from VRA to take over from the current chief executive who was appointed by the then NDC government and will proceed on leave next month.
Some of the workers who spoke on anonymity told this paper that someone from VRA, a sister company of Gridco has been penciled for the topmost job at Gridco which to them, isn’t the best for the company and will ensure this time around it won’t happen.
‘’Since the inception of Gridco, all CEOs have been coming from VRA, a situation which is very bad and cause us worry because, it does not give us more hope to broaden our profession to one day also head this company”, they said.
According to them, Gridco directors, managers, and they the workers themselves are very worried about the stiff opposition they are facing because they are always headed by someone from VRA which to them is very wrong and therefore, the president should look at it again if the information they are getting stands to be true.
“The President of Ghana, His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo should be vigilant this time around because we the workers and the entire body of Gridco can equally manage the company and we won’t entertain any person from VRA anymore”, they threatened.
‘’We want our own to be the new chief executive officer for Gridco. If it is about rich experience needed to manage Gridco since Gridco is a big name when it comes to power generation then it will be of good interest for those in authority who will make the appointment to consider somebody from Gridco’’.
