Heavy early morning rains have flooded parts of Brahabebome Ato Plans in the Obuasi Municipality, leaving many residents trapped in their homes and disrupting daily activities.
The downpour, which began around 4:00 am today, overwhelmed drains and low-lying areas, causing floodwaters to cut off roads and footpaths within the community.
Several families were unable to leave their homes, with school children missing classes and traders and workers unable to report to work. Some residents also spent hours removing water from their rooms and compounds.
Residents say the flooding has become a recurring problem whenever it rains and are calling on the Obuasi Municipal Assembly, NADMO, and relevant authorities to urgently desilt drains, expand culverts, and provide a lasting solution to the situation.
For now, many families remain stranded as the community continues to deal with the effects of the flooding.
