Obuasi East MCE Urges BECE Candidates to Uphold Obuasi’s Outstanding Legacy


The Chief Executive of the Obuasi East Municipal Assembly Hon. William Kofi Adzowu has urged the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates to maintain Obuasi’s outstanding BECE history, emphasizing that Obuasi has been credited with Churning out excellent BECE results over the years.

Hon. Adzowu made this call when he was accompanied by Municipal Education Director Kwabena Owusu Nketiah, the Municipal Coordinating Director Eric Aboagye-Mensah and officials from the Obuasi East education directorate to toure the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) centres in the Municipality. The purpose of the tour was to have a first-hand information on how the examinations are being conducted on the first day, and to motivate the candidates.

Addressing the candidates, Hon. Adzowu stressed that, the excellence of their future begins today so they should take thisexamination seriously since it is the first step needed for them to have a secured future and also do away with all forms of anxiety which is normally associated with examinations. He then cautioned them to eschew any form of examination malpracticeswhich could end their academic journey. 

On his part, the Municipal Director of Education Kwabena Owusu Nketiah said the students have had adequate preparations ahead of the examination, he confirmed that the Directorate in collaboration with stakeholders have organized 4 mock examinations for the candidates to prepare them adequately for this examination.” We are optimistic that, this has helped them to familiarize themselves with how the exams could go and are enough to help them come out with flying colours”. He then pleaded for a model school in the Obuasi East Municipality stating that, it is one of his biggest challenges.

Meanwhile, a total of 2,030 candidates made up of 961 boys and 1, 069 girls, 1, 436 being public schools whiles 594 constitute the private schools will write 2025 BECE in the Obuasi East Municipality at 8 different centres.
