The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Ashanti South Region, has announced a temporary power outage affecting several areas in Obuasi. The outage, which began on Thursday, June 12, 2025, is due to ongoing repair works on GRIDCo’s transformer located in Obuasi.
According to ECG, the affected areas include Obuasi Zongo, Tutuka, Akrofuom, Akrokeri, and the Stadium area.
In a statement, ECG assured the public that GRIDCo’s engineers are actively working to fix the issue and restore power as soon as possible. The company expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and appreciated the patience of residents in the affected communities.
